How to Make Money Blogging
There are two major types of business models that
entrepreneurs use to make money blogging.
The first and most common way to turn a blog into a
profit making machine is to sell advertising to
different companies and brands who want to reach that
blog's readers.
The second kind of money making blog is one that helps
a single brand improve its image by creating
positive associations between the blog and the product
in the mind of consumers. Both kinds of blogs can
make a lot of money, especially if the creator has a keen
mind for marketing.
If you are blogging with the goal of selling advertising,
there are two basic ways that you can go about
recruiting sponsors who want to put ads on your site;
you can let someone else do all of the legwork, or you
can do the work yourself and keep all of the revenue.
Within the first group, many people make money
blogging by selling space through Google's AdSense
program. The advantages of this program are numerous,
as it requires very little effort on the part of the blogger
or webmaster to begin raking in profits. However, most
people discover that they make less money through this
method than they had hoped that their blog would earn.
Selling advertising directly to companies who want to
put banner ads or sponsored links on your blog can take
quite a bit of time, but it is often fairly lucrative. If you
have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the
topic of your blog, you may want to try to go this route.
People who have a strong background in sales and are
experienced at pitching proposals can make quite a bit
of money by renting blog space to interested companies.
The most serious problem with this model is that you
often have to build quite a sizable readership before you
can attract advertisers, which can mean that you have to
do several months of work before you start to make
money blogging.
As blogging becomes a more and more lucrative
business, a lot of established companies are considering
how they can get into the action. One way that
companies are capitalizing on the blog movement is by
having blogs that provide a kind of friendly face for
their corporation. Often, a company will employ an
established blogger to create a weblog designed
specifically to appeal to that company's customers and
to create positive associations with the brand in
consumers' minds. More than one writer who never
even dreamed that he or she could make money
blogging has been approached by a company and
offered quite a pretty penny for this kind of gig.
A lot of blogging software is specifically designed to be
simple to use, but even the least intimidating blogging
program can feel very overwhelming to somebody who
has not spent a lot of time learning the ins and outs of
different kinds of software. Particularly for newer
bloggers, learning how to use the interface of blogging
software is the most difficult part of blogging. If you are
somebody who feels comfortable expressing themselves
in another medium, it may prove to be well worth your
time and effort to learn blogging software, but that
doesn't mean that the task will be easy.
The main thing that will help you find success as you
learn how to use a new kind of blogging software is to
try and take things slowly. Many people get so excited
about learning to blog that they try to rush into the thick
of it and start exploring the most complicated features
of a program right away. This can lead to getting
confused and feeling frustrated, and all too many
potential bloggers burn out during this stage of the
process. If you take your time learning the basics of
your blog software program before you move on to
more advanced techniques, you will be more likely to
retain what you have learned, and to keep feeling
positive about your ability to understand the world of
blogging.

Easy Ways to Ramp Up Your E-Book Sales
Once you've written your E-Book, got your Website up and
integrated your shopping cart, you can sit back and start
waiting for the money to come rolling in, right?
WRONG!These days it's getting harder than ever before to be
able to get people to notice you – and just because
"you build it" doesn't mean they're going to come.
So what's an author to do?
Actually, thanks to all the tools that are available to
you including Web 2.0, marketing your book and ramping
up your sales is not as hard as you might think.
In fact, here are a few ideas to get your juices flowing.
Add them to your sales plan, and use them as a jumping
off place to help you make even more sales.
Create a long-term plan before you write even one word
of your first book. The truth of the matter is that
you're probably never going to get rich from writing
one E-book. So before you start writing your first
book, start thinking about your second book. And the
first product that will tie into your first book. And
the second. And then the third.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Come up with as
many different income streams as you can and plan to
build them into your plan. For example, can you create
a workbook from your E-book? What about recording some
audio files that go into further details or give more
information. What about doing a joint venture with
other experts in your industry?
Sell more books at one time. If your book covers any one
of a number of popular subjects self-help or development,
home improvement, business, religion there are probably
corporations, organizations or niche markets that are
always on the look-out for inexpensive gifts or bonuses
for their employees, clients or associates. Your book
could be just the ticket. Although you might have to go
down in price what do you think sounds better? Selling
one or two books at a time or selling box loads of them?
Once you've built up your credibility as a published
author, it's time to take things to the next level.
Have you ever dreamed of attending seminars or workshops
as a presenter? What about having a speaking career and
being flown all over the world speaking to people in your
niche market? If you don't like traveling or crowds,
consider putting together teleseminars or holding
intimate bootcamps.
Create Joint VenturesThis is the fastest and easiest way to leverage your
expertise and start raking in the cash. Find people
who are in similar but not competing industries as
yours. Explore ways for you to provide value to both
of your customers while you're cross-selling or
upselling.
For example, if you own a restaurant, what about creating
a special Valentine's Day promotion with the local florist.
Offer free drinks or desserts to any of the florist's
customers who bring in a special card (that you've provided
to them) when they come to your restaurant. And your joint
venture partner (the florist) gives you roses or carnations
that can be given out to any women when their companion
gives you the special dessert card.
Real value that makes your customers happy, and builds
loyalty, trust and positions both of you as the
first people your customers think of when they need
flowers or want a romantic restaurant or a place to eat
during a special occasion.

Get On a List

Thousands of mailing lists have already been formed by users with common interests. You may find mailing lists for celebrities, organizations, political interests, occupations and hobbies.
Groups come in several different flavors. Some are extremely active. You can recieve as many as forty or more email messages a day. Other lists may send you a message a month. One-way lists, such as printed newsletters do not distribute your reply to any other subscriber.
You join in the discussion by subscribing to a list which is as straight-forward as sending email. You need to know only two items: the name of the list and the address of the list server program handling subscriptions. To join a list, send a subscribe message to the list server address.
The message must contain the letters "sub" the name of the list and your name, all on one line. This message will be read by a computer program that looks for these items only. At the very best, other comments in the message will be ignored and so will you.
Within a few hours to a day after subscribing, the list server will automatically send you a confirmation email message, including instructions for sending messages, finding out information about the list and it's members and canceling your subscription. Save this message for future reference. That way, if you decide to leave the list, you won't have to circulate a message to the members asking how to unsubscribe and you won't have to wade through fifty replies all relaying the same information you recieved when you joined.
Soon after your confirmation message appears in your mailbox and depending on the activity level of the list, you'll begin recieving email messages. New list subscribers customarily wait a while before joining the disscussion. After all, you're electronically strolling into a room full of strangers, it's only fair to see what topics are being discussed before wading in with your opinions.
Observe the list for a while, understand it's tone and feel, what topics are of interest to others and what areas are taboo. Also, look for personalities, who's the most vociferous, who writes very little but responds thoughtfully, who's the most flexible, the most rigid and most of all, keep in mind that there are far more observers than participants. What you write may be read by 10 or 100 times more people than those whose names show up in the daily messages.
